WWE WrestleMania 29 - Results, Coverage, Opinions and more!

It is the biggest event in sports entertainment, WrestleMania. The night where everything changes, where the face of the WWE is shaped. The spectacle took place in the MetLife Stadium, with a record breaking 80,676 fans in attendance to witness The Grandest Stage of Them All. With several title changes, careers and streaks on the line, quests for Greatness and Redemption, a lot was to ensue in New Jersey for WrestleMania 29...

The Miz won his second Intercontinental Championship by making Wade Barrett tap out to the Figure-Four Leg Lock.
The match did not last that long, but there was some action to hype up the crowd. Wade Barrett almost won by using the outsides of the ring to his advantage, however, when The Miz had the Figure-Four Leg Lock locked in, Barrett knew he had nowhere to go, and he was to tap out, making Miz the new Champion.
Kicking off the pay-per-view was a six man tag team match. It was a very chaotic start to WrestleMania, The Shield's momentum was to continue...
It began with a heated fight between Reigns and Sheamus, but chaos was to break loose. The Shield were to deal with a big amount of punishment, including chest hits and more. However, it all came to an end when Randy Orton tagged Sheamus, when Big Show wanted the tag. Then Randy Orton RKOd Rollins, but got speared by Roman Reigns and lost. Then a complete lapse of communication with the team, as The Big Show got angry and knocked out both Sheamus and Orton. The Shield once again triumphant, and they continue to spread justice throughout the WWE.

It was a true battle of power as Mark Henry faced Ryback on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
Mark Henry looked to be winning the battle, softening the back of Ryback with abdominal squeezes. However, Ryback was to gain momentum and hit the Meathook Clothesline. Then, he was teeing up to do the unthinkable, and that would be Shellshock-ing Ryback. He got Henry up, but Henry grabbed the ropes and fell onto Ryback, winning a pinfall victory. As Ryback was attended to by medics, Mark Henry entered the ring again, looking to continue the attack. However he walked straight into a spinebuster, then Ryback was to shock the World delivering a THUNDEROUS Shellshocked to Mark Henry! Incredible.
Team Hell No managed to retain their WWE Tag Team titles, in a match where it could have easily been an entire different outcome.
The match began reminiscent to WrestleMania 28 when Bryan had a match. Ziggler kissed AJ on the apron, and turned around into a kick to the head. We thought it was over, but it was just a near fall. Daniel Bryan turned up the tempo with a suicide dive out the ring, but Ziggler was able to tag in Big E, who collided with Kane. Big E showed his raw power, throwing Kane around and dominating him. The beatdown continued, until Kane managed to turn it around. But then Big E Langston went to finish Kane, but he reversed throwing him outside the ring. Daniel Bryan dealt with Langston outside but was caught with a ZigZag. The WWE Universe thought that was it, but Kane managed to kick out. Ziggler tried to use the briefcase to his advantage, but to no avail, and Kane chokeslammed Ziggler, before Daniel Bryan finished it off with a Flying Headbutt. Great result for Team Hell No, a great performance. And then, the YES! chants broke out in the MetLife Stadium.
Fandango made his debut at WrestleMania, as he faced Chris Jericho. It was to be an excellent start to Fandango's WWE career.
Fandango had a very lavish entrance with many dancers, meanwhile Jericho received a huge ovation with fireworks in MetLife Stadium. Jericho approached the match with intent to hurt Fandango, attacking him from the outset, and giving Fandango minimal time to recover.  Chris Jericho managed to hit an early Codebreaker, but Fandango managed to get out of the ring. Jericho did not stop there, jumping of the turnbuckle onto Fandango. The turning point was when Fandango managed to land a kick when Jericho was in mid-air bouncing off the ropes, Fandango followed this up by beating down Jericho. Fandango came close to a big upset with a nearfall, when he threw Jericho into the steel ring post, before going for a leg drop, but Jericho was to survive and manage to fight on. Jericho was pushed off the top turnbuckle and Fandango missed a leg drop. Jericho missed the Lionsault, and his knee seemed to have buckled when he missed it. He attempted to go for the Walls of Jericho but could not plant his leg and Fandango rolled him up for the win. Jericho was left in the ring frustrated, as Fandango stood victorious in his WWE debut.

It was a very well-battled contest for the World Heavyweight Championship, as Alberto Del Rio retained his World Heavyweight Championship.
Alberto Del Rio was also angered and had a motiive for revenge, going straight for an attack on Swagger. However it was to develop into a back-and-forth match, and Swagger nearly made Del Rio tap with the Patriot Act constantly damaging the ankle. Chaos ensued oustide, as Zeb Colter attacked a helpless Ricardo Rodriguez, Del Rio came to the aid but was attacked from behind by Swagger. When they both got back into the ring, Swagger was stunned and found himself locked into the Cross-Arm Breaker. With nowhere to go, Jack Swagger tapped. It looks like we won't be seeing Jack Swagger's America anytime soon.

It was an absolutely epic match between Undertaker and CM Punk. The Streak lives. 21 - 0.
The Streak vs. The Best in the World. A match only fitting to take place at the Showcase of the Immortals, and it lived up to expectations in an incredible match. CM Punk had a great entrance, as he entered to Living Colour's LIVE performance of "Cult of Personality". Meanwhile the MetLife Stadium were in awe as The Undertaker made a spine-tingling entrance to the ring. It was a very physical match, which went all around the ring and beyond. CM Punk came extremely close to beating the Streak, including when he hit Undertaker with the urn. What a contest, CM Punk pulled it all out including jumping off the turnbuckle onto Undertaker on the announcer's table. Just an epic confrontation, amazing stuff. Undertaker did however get revenge, the Streak lived. It took two Tombstone Piledrivers to put CM Punk away. It almost was over when CM Punk delivered a GTS but Undertaker got up and Tombstoned Punk. Undertaker showed he was defiant, resilient, and CM Punk knew what he was dealing with when he had the Anaconda Vice locked in, and Undertaker sat up, looking straight into the eyes of Punk. Incredible. It was one final tombstone, at the end of a combination that put the match to rest. Undertaker had avenged Paul Bearer, repossessed the urn, and the Streak Lives. Amazing.
It was a very physical match that saw Triple H save his career in a war with Brock Lesnar.
The stage was set for a great match at WrestleMania, and it was extremely physical from the very beginning. It was more than a war rather than a match. Triple H came out swinging with the intention to destroy Lesnar, and of course save his career. Lesnar was to take control and punish Triple H, but Triple H managed to gain some control and he almost very well broke the arm of Brock Lesnar with chair shots to the arm and being defiant with the Kimura Lock. Shawn Michaels was to be on the receiving end of an F5, but also got his own back when he gave a Sweet Chin Music to Paul Heyman. Triple H was to save his career when he managed to DDT Lesnar on to the steps, before a Pedigree on to the Steel, and won the match. The Game will Play on, Triple H's career lives, after an epic war.
It was a main event for the ages, for the WWE Championship. It was Greatness vs. Redemption. The Rock vs. John Cena.
There was definitely a big fight feel in MetLife Stadium, for what was to be a great rematch. The two hit each other with their best, Rockbottoms, Attitude Adjustments and more. They really went at each other throughout the match, near fall after near fall. The Rockbottom did not seem enough to dampen Cena's resolve at WrestleMania, and Cena came close with an Attitude Adjustment when The Rock attempted a Five-Knuckle Shuffle. One very telling moment was when John Cena did what he did last year, went for the People's Elbow. But as The Rock got up, John Cena stopped, and did the U Cant See Me taunt to The Rock. It was a great encounter, definitely better than last years, very enjoyable to watch. The ending was epic, as The Rock went for a Rockbottom, but John Cena hit him with yet another AA, and that would win him the match, and the WWE Championship. It was a respectful ending as the two conversed in the ring, before shaking hands. The Rock looked devastated from his loss, and as he approached the ramp after greeting and saying Thank You to New York, Cena awaited him, and the two saluted each other. Two icons, finishing the grand stage, as fireworks went off at MetLife Stadium. What a great ending to a great night. It is now John Cena's era. What a great ending for these two icons at WrestleMania 29.

Opinion
A good night in WWE, but of course not as good as expected. Del Rio and Swagger had a dissapointing ending, but the main events were great. WWE struggled with the time managing that could have damaged the show, but I enjoyed WrestleMania despite it's predictability. Things I would improve is the Del Rio match, the pace of the Ryback match and a bit more cleaner matches. But I still enjoyed it despite the outcomes.

A great night in the WWE. It may have not been as good as previous ones, but there is no doubting that this shapes the future of the WWE. This brings up more and more questions.
What is next for The Rock? Who will be Cena's first challenger? Triple H's career is saved, but now where will he go? Will Lesnar's rage go out of control? What about CM Punk? The Undertaker's Streak lives, but who is the next challenger? All that and more questions are to be answered, following a significant night at WrestleMania.
The Greatest Event in Entertainment is over for now. It is in the history books. Next stop RAW, where we take our next step in the WWE.
