Alberto Del Rio retains his World Heavyweight Championship after defeating The Big Show in a Last Man Standing match
Alberto Del Rio really proved that he deserves to be World Heavyweight Champion as heretained his title at the Royal Rumble. He has now defeated The Big Show twice in Last Man
Standing match, having a legitimate claim to the Championship. The opening of the match saw The Big Show dominate Alberto Del Rio, but Del Rio had several big moments in the match of where he got the Big Show down. A big spot during the contest was when The Big Show sent Alberto crashing through a table, and Del Rio got up on the ninth second, before persevering on to win the match. Alberto is a good Champion, but I don't see him taking the title through to WrestleMania, I expect it to change hands at the Elimination Chamber. Big Show may pursue in another rivalry now, or continue and compete in the Elimination Chamber in three weeks. Overall, it was a good contest to kick off the show, but slightly repetitive at times.
Team Hell No retain their WWE Tag Team Championships after defeating long-time rivals Rhodes Scholars
Many in the WWE Universe thought that this contest would put an end to Team Hell No's title reign, but at the Royal Rumble they defeated Rhodes Scholars, proving that they can coexist as a team. It capped off a great week for Team Hell No, following graduation of anger management. I think we have seen this matchup too many times, I don't know what is next for Rhodes Scholars, if they continue to pursue the titles they must at least win it once, Team Hell No could be fizzling out soon. Team Hell No continue to roll on as Tag Team Champions...John Cena wins the Royal Rumble match, securing a spot in the main event of WrestleMania 29
The Royal Rumble match always delivers many unpredictable moments, and this year in the Rumble match there were many favorites going in to the contest, but it was John Cena who prevailed emphatically, and is going to WrestleMania 29. The Rumble match kicked off with Entrant #1 Dolph
Ziggler, and his opponent, was someone which made the crowd go crazy! Chris Jericho returned as Entrant #2 in the Royal Rumble match, to wrestle the man who took him out the WWE to kick things off in the Rumble. These two superstars lasted the longest throughout the match, reaching the last six, and having at least 40 minutes during the match. Santino Marella was first to be eliminated in the match, entering at #5 and being eliminated by Rhodes, Kingston, Jericho and Ziggler collectively. Goldust surprised his brother Cody Rhodes when he entered at #8, but on in the match Cody was to eliminate Goldust. Another big entrant was Sheamus at #11, who lasted until the final
three but was unable to win the Rumble for the second consecutive time. Rey Mysterio returned from injury at entrant #14, but also was unable to win the Rumble for the second time. NXT prospect Bo Dallas entered the Royal Rumble at #16, and did well until he eliminated Barrett, as Barrett pulled Bo Dallas off the apron causing elimination. The crowd went wild, as the Godfather, famous for his time in WWE during the Attitude Era entered the match, he came in and was immediately eliminated by Dolph Ziggler. John Cena entered at #19, and made a huge impact from the outset with several eliminations. Team Hell No struggled to coexist, meanwhile
many people were teaming up to eliminate Tensai, Clay and Khali. At #26 came the Viper, Randy Orton, who looked to seek career redemption, and almost did. Sin Cara returned also, but picked on the wrong person when #30, Ryback entered. Sin Cara attempted to kick Ryback, but to no avail, and was thrown out the Rumble. The final six were Jericho, Ziggler, Orton, Sheamus, Ryback and Cena. Jericho was eliminated by Ziggler, before Sheamus delivered a Brogue Kick to Ziggler which took him off the apron. We were down to 4, Orton, Sheamus, Ryback and Cena, arguably the favorites of the match. Randy Orton went on an RKO frenzy delivering RKOs to Sheamus and Cena, but when he attempted to do it to Ryback, he was eliminated. Sheamus and Cena tried to team up on Ryback, they did until got focused on each other, Ryback eliminated Sheamus, and we were down to two. Ryback and Cena squared off, and after a back and forth battle (including an STF by Cena which put Ryback out cold) Cena prevailed by throwing Ryback over the top rope. Cena embraced his victory in the crowd at the United Center, and had done what he set out to do, win the Rumble and headline WrestleMania. I don't think this Rumble was as exciting as previous Rumble matches, Jericho was a great return, but I would have liked to see some more entrants that were not wasted and pointless.
Quite entertaining, but still very predictable. I think Cena will go on to face The Rock at WrestleMania 29 and win, again very predictable. Many fans don't like the fact that Cena won and was like "Super Cena" and maybe that could be true. Also, I could sense a Ryback/Orton feud following their battles in the match. John Cena is going to WrestleMania 29, after winning the Rumble, but this was to be just a part, of an epic night....The Rock becomes the new WWE Champion after an epic encounter with CM Punk which could have ended differently

It was a match for the ages, the Best in the World vs. The Great One, for the most coveted prize in sports entertainment, the WWE Championship. Anticipation going into this match had been high,
with it all starting back from Raw 1000 when The Rock announced that he will compete at the Royal Rumble. It was destined to be an epic match, and prior to the match, The Rock spoke to the WWE Universe talking about never giving up, and how his mother never gave up and beat cancer, it was an inspirational story, that added the awe-inspiring touch to this match. There was a big fight feel in the United Center, and it seemed like The Rock's
lack of in-ring competition favoured CM Punk. However, The Rock did take control as the match went back and forth, and The Rock could have had it all done when he was about to Rockbottom CM Punk through the announcers' table, but it collapsed. Following a great match, The Rock was set to win, as he was going to put down the Most Electrifying Move in All of Entertainment, The People's Elbow on CM Punk. The lights in the arena went off just as he did, and we could not see anything, but only hear some destruction taking place, and Michael Cole screaming "IT'S THE SHIELD!" When the lights went back on, The Rock was on crashed through the table, and CM Punk smiled, possibly hinting his alliance with The Shield. CM Punk put The Rock back into the ring and pinned him 1.. 2... 3... and we all thought CM Punk had retained his Championship. But just a minute into
his celebration, out came the boss, Vince McMahon, and he pointed out that if The Shield interfered in this match, CM Punk would be stripped of the title. McMahon was about to do it before The Rock stopped him saying "You won't take it from him, I will." and The Rock asked for the match to restart. A nervous looking Vince restarted the match, and CM Punk took advantage of an already badly beaten superstar. He completed several signature moves before setting up for the GTS. The Rock reverse and set up for an ELECTRIFYING People's Elbow, he then went on to pin Punk, and win the WWE Championship! It was a surreal moment to see The Rock as WWE Champion, and as a fan of The Rock I was so excited for this match and I can't believe
he is Champion! It was an ending to CM Punk's 434 day reign as Champion, and much respect to CM Punk, for holding the title for that long, and his name will be in the record books. It was a great way to kick off the Road to WrestleMania, with a new WWE Champion, an epic night, and I can now say, we are on the Road to WrestleMania! The Rock is the WWE Champion!
What a way to kick off the Road to WrestleMania, an epic and memorable night that sets up the foundation for WrestleMania 29. The Rock is the new WWE Champion, Cena won the Royal Rumble, epic moments, what a night. The Royal Rumble really did deliver, and as we move forward to WrestleMania, what challenges will The Rock face?
